Christopher Columbus Statue To Be Removed In Mexcio City


 Mexico City has plans to replace the statue of Christopher Columbus on Paseo de la Reforma boulevard. The replacement statue is set to take place sometime in October 2021. 

The statue of Christopher Columbus will be replaced with a statue of an Indigenous woman. Columbus Statue has existed in Mexico City for over 100 years.

"We are announcing that the Columbus roundabout will very soon, in October, become a great recognition of the 500 years of resistance of the Indigenous women of our country, we owe it to them." - Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico City Mayor
