President Donald Trump has appointed Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro to the Council of Governors.
Well, what does that mean?
The Council of Governors comprising 10 governors, five Democrats and. five Republicans, works to strengthen state-federal partnerships on issues like national security, disaster response, and military coordination.
Shapiro joins notable figures like Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin and North Carolina Governor Josh Stein, along with Florida’s Ron DeSantis, Georgia’s Brian Kemp, South Carolina’s Henry McMaster, Maryland’s Wes Moore, Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer, New York’s Kathy Hochul, and Louisiana’s Jeff Landry.
The appointments were announced during a Black History Month event where Trump also highlighted plans for the National Garden of American Heroes.
